The role of agricultural production technology and agricultural product distribution in developing countries is now becoming increasingly important not only for their own food security but also for the balance of global food supply and demand. In particular, the globalization of the market economy has made it necessary for agricultural products from developing countries to meet the requirements of food safety and proper quality. In addition, the number of agricultural workers is decreasing due to the influx of people to cities and other industries, and the transition from labor-intensive agriculture to capital-intensive agriculture has been cited as an issue. Against this backdrop, agricultural development cooperation for developing countries is required not only to improve agricultural productivity and increase yields as in the past, but also to establish food value chains and develop smart agriculture technologies. In this research, classification and analysis of Japan's smart agriculture technologies were carried out. Furthermore, Thailand and Vietnam were selected from 50 countries in ASEAN, South Asia, and Latin America as survey target countries, and smart agricultural technology-related policies, research and development, dissemination status, and technological needs in the two countries were studied. Based on the survey results, the direction and basic strategies for the private sector to expand their activities overseas, utilizing the strengths of smart agricultural technology that Japan has been working on, were compiled. |
