The question now facing humanity is how to use the planet’s limited resources wisely. Earth is a water-rich planet, yet only about 0.8% of its water is freshwater available for human use, while approximately 97% is seawater. In addition, most freshwater is used for food production, particularly in agriculture.
Food-related issues affect people around the world. However, agricultural challenges vary depending on social and natural conditions. In developing countries, agricultural constraints can lead to serious difficulties, including the risk of famine. Even Japan faces challenges in the effective use of its limited farmland. Humanity faces a wide range of agricultural issues.
Sanyu Consultants Inc. has been engaged both locally and internationally as an engineering consulting firm in agriculture, rural development, and water resources development, contributing to the effective use of limited water resources for the prosperity of humanity.
Sanyu Consultants Inc. was established in 1962 following the Aichi Irrigation Development Project, postwar Japan’s first large-scale agricultural development project funded by a World Bank loan. We celebrated our 60th anniversary on June 22, 2022. Since then, Sanyu Consultants Inc. has contributed to numerous development projects both locally and internationally and is now recognized as one of Japan’s leading engineering consulting firms in the fields of agriculture, rural development, and water resources development.
